Daily Makeup Favourites

24 August 2014

Happy Bank Holiday weekend everyone!

Today I thought I would show you my current daily make up. It doesn't really change too much over time as I use my favourite products and then repurchase them so I tend to get stuck in a rut. I'm now trying to switch it up to make my routine more exciting, although it never feels like a chore. I am feeling more inspired to create different looks and I'm getting more excited about make up again so lets see what this looks like in a few months time.

Base: This is currently my favourite combo for my base. I haven't been using a primer as I don't like the feeling of most of them as I find they are quite heavy on my skin.

For my foundation I have been using MaXfactor all day flawless, which is a 3 in 1 product that primes and conceals as well as having an SPF 20. I got the shade Warm Almond as I found the lighter shade too light for me which I found surprising. I have oily combination skin and lately it's got worse so I knew I needed more of a mattifying foundation. I've found this has really worked for me as although I still need to powder it has lasted me a lot longer than other drugstore products. (I'll review it soon)

For concealer I've been using NARS creamy concealer in Vanilla. As a lot of people know, its an amazing product. Far better than any other concealer I've tried and even though its on the more expensive side I would still repurchase this over collections lasting perfection as I found that creased on me big time. Its so smooth on my skin and covers flaws like a dream.

Bronzer/Contour: I've been using Bodyshop Honey Bronzer. I love this bronzer a lot! It never goes too orange on my skin and gives me the perfect amount of colour without it looking unnatural. I don't really need to contour as I have big cheekbones which I personally hate as it gives me a wide face but without them I would probably complain.

Blush: I got this blush free with another NARS purchase when I was at a launch earlier this year. Its a mini version of the Deep Throat blush which I was actually going to buy not long before. I really wish they sold more of these minis as its a great way to try out a product without paying the full price. Its great on my skin tone and its cute enough for my handbag! The brush I've been using it is also a firm favourite in my makeup bag. Its from the EcoTool travel kit, which all of you must try btw as they are so super soft!

Finally for eyes and brows I have been using this combination. This is the MUA eyeshadow palette in Undressed, which you can pick up from Superdrug for a really affordable price. They are smooth and creamy and blend really well, you could say they are a dupe for the naked palettes. I've been using the two pink shades on the top left the most but I have a go at most of them during the week, depending on how I feel when I wake up in the morning.

I mix up my mascaras all the time as I love trying new ones out. I was using the Kate Moss mascara but I found it crumbled a lot so I've left that one lonely in my makeup bag for now. This is another new launch by Rimmel. I found I was attracted to this as it has Argan Oil in it which helps to nourish your eye lashes to help them grow. Now I don't have much of a problem with the length but I do find my lashes fall out quite a bit so I need something which will help out the new lashes that poke through grow quicker so I don't look bald in my eye department. I'm yet to see if it makes any difference but I will report back when I do.

For my brows I have been using another launch by Rimmel called Brow this way. This looks like a mascara but it coats your brows instead. Its a different way of defining your brows but I love it! I find its so easy to apply and it shapes and sets your brows like nobodies business.

So this is what I wear on my face at the moment. I usually don't make too much fuss on a week day as I don't have too long to get ready in the morning for work, mainly because I have a good relationship with the snooze button but I've now got into the routines of using these products so I can get my face on pretty quickly when I need to.

Whats your current makeup favourites at the moment?

*This is Paul Hollywoods recipe which I only thought was fitting. I've never baked bread before so I used a bread maker and added the ingredients in the order as stated in the recipe. This is the proper way to do it.

Mini Topshop Haul

17 August 2014

 Hello there my lovelies!

So last weekend I met up with my bestie for a spot of shopping. I'm trying to update my wardrobe with a style thats more me as I feel my clothes are quite boring at the moment. I'm really loving the whole sports luxe trend at the moment and I feel so comfortable and sassy in the items I have brought so far that I knew I wanted some more.

This top and skirt are the pieces I ended up buying. If you follow me on Instagram you would have already seen it on me. I'm really into midi skirts at the moment and when I saw this I just had to have it! I love the sports material and paired with the simple ribbed crop top and my beloved chunky white shoes I think it would be a prefect summer/autumn outfit.

Top £7.99 / Skirt £35

This was one of those necklaces where I was trying to find my letter for ages and once I did I just had to buy it. What I love about this is these are actually three separate necklaces so you can wear them individually or with other necklaces for different looks, plus that iridescent stone is just gorgeous!

Necklace £12.99

I saw this bag randomly placed while I was having a wonder round and had to pick it up. Its actually from Miss Selfridge but as Miss Selfridge and Topshop are combined on Oxford street I'm including it in here as I just love it!. I'm trying to add more colour into my wardrobe and starting with accessories is the best way as you can experiment wearing them with different colour combinations you wouldn't dare to try with clothes and so far so good! I wore this to a wedding and it came in handy when the bridesmaids needed me to look after their phones.

Clutch £16

Now lets just take a moment here to admire the beauty!....I always wear aviators and I've seen this brand on the likes of Clothes Encounters (ImJennIm) and I follow 'Quay Australia' on Instagram. I was browsing the sunglasses stands (Topshop have a lot) and saw there was a stand for Quay Australia and I got super excited! Ive been umming and ahhing over them for ages but I was too worried to order them online as not many sunglasses suit me so I didn't want the trouble of buying and sending pairs back. I tried these on, got best friend approval and went straight into my basket!

Quay Australia 'Estelle' Sunglasses £30

I've seen a lot of people in the blogging world talk about this highlighter so I pick it up on my round of browsing the beauty section. Friends have been using it since and they love it too! Its the perfect champagne colour and blends out beautifully, leaving brow and cheekbones beautifully defined.

Highlighter £10

I also spotted this nail varnish on my way to the checkout (who doesn't love a good nail varnish) and have to pick it up. I don't think I have a good silver polish in my collection so I just had to get it. I have been wearing it non stop at the moment as it goes with everything and even looks good on your toes.

Nail Polish £5

So theres my roundup of what I have brought lately. Topshop is where its at as most of you well
know and I'm itching to have another look soon but I going to try and wait until next pay day.
Have you brought anything new lately?

Enjoy your sunday!

Improving Blog Content #bloggersdoitbetter

10 August 2014

(So I decided to illustrate the whole blog instead of just writing out
as I was going to post like that but it weren't very me. Let me know
what you think to this more illustrated blog. It took ages but I really
enjoyed it!)

Blue Jeans. Stripe Shirt.

5 August 2014

I work 5 days a week and I'm sitting at a computer for most part. I love nothing more than being comfy so I can get on with what I need to and not worry about my feet hurting or being too cold for wearing a skirt when its a chilly day. I wear jeans a lot of the time and I'm bored of the ones I have & I saw these while I was having a quick browse in H&M.

I've seen these a lot lately on the likes of Essie Button who got hers from Whistles and I love the trend. I also brought this top and these furry shoes on a whim as I'm trying to build up my wardrobe with some staples which will hopefully help me develop my style which I'm not so in love with right now. I need to be quirker as thats who I am.

Have a lovely week

KhrissieLoves....Lovebox Festival 2014

3 August 2014

A few weekends ago I decided last minute that I wanted to go to Lovebox Festival. I managed to find some tickets and off I went, Nick ended up coming with me. We turned up and the crowds were so busy, most of the people waiting for friends I assumed. We got through the cue quite quickly and we were in!

We spent the first hour walking around the festival and checking out what it had to offer.  We stumbled upon lots of music acts we hadn't seen before as well as a roller disco and a small parade which worked its way across the field. It must have been the hottest day of the year and I was sweating way too much but we managed to find some hammocks which we spent a lot of time chilling out in. It also confirmed that I NEED a hammock in my life! It made me feel like a chilled out hippy, just enjoying life with no worries or questions to ask. I loved it!

Dress as a Top / Ebay
Shorts / Forever 21
Kimono & Necklace / Select Fashion
Shoes / Topshop
Bag & sunglasses / Primark
Nail Art / Moyo Nail art kit
Head garland / Primark (ages ago)

This is what I managed to scramble together to wear for the festival. The kimono was a new find which you have seen on previous OOTDs as I havent been able to take it off since this festival (I have washed it, I promise). The kimono was the bases of my outfit and I loved the pink in the pattern and knew I had this dress (top) that I hadn't worn yet so I paired them together, working the clashing prints! I added shorts as I knew it was going to be hot! I threw these shoes on last minute although I should have gone with something different as the leather was heating up in the intense sun and burning my feet.

I quite liked how the outfit came together last minute, although knowing how hot it was going to be I would have changed it up a little.

While M.I.A was on glow stick were being thrown everywhere. I managed to get hold of one but it was broken so we ended up chucking it around and getting the glowing stuff all over our clothes, which was fun while it lasted. I won't be doing it again though as it stained my cat dress which I have to now throw away after one use. Sad face!

This was the sunset that day, it was so beautiful. It got cooler in the evening which I was really thankful for and ended my day perfectly. Lovebox festival was fun but the acoustics need to be improved, especially with what happened to M.I.A.

Below is a vlog of some of the day, I hope you enjoy it!
What festivals are you going to / been to this year?
