Baking | Graveyard Cupcakes

29 October 2014
Halloween is only a few days away so why not bake some tasty treats for your friends and family, or even yourself if your feeling a bit peckish. I wanted to create something which was super quick and easy where you didn't need too many ingredients. I have for you some halloween haunted graveyards.
You will need: 1 pack of chocolate cupcake mix / 1 Egg / 125g Butter / Pack of Oreos / A pack of icing pens / Halloween sprinkles / Piping bag or knife
Step 1: Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees
Sift the chocolate mix into a large bowl to get rid of any lumps
Step 2: Add in one egg and 2 tablespoons of water
Step 3: Once mixed well, pour into the cupcakes cases and place in the centre of the oven between 10-15 minutes until bouncy to the touch.

Step 4: While the cakes are in the oven mix the icing sugar together with the butter until a smooth and creamy consistency is formed. Melt the chocolate chunks in a pan of hot water (leaving the chunks the bag) then add to the mixture and stir well.
Step 5: Get the cakes out the oven and allow to completely cool. Once cooled you can top them with the icing. Dont worry about it looking too neat as the chocolate is acting as mud for our graveyard.

Step 6: Take an Oreo and cut of the sides to look like a gravestone. The Oreos will crack but that all adds to the effect of an old weathered gravestone. Then place into the centre of the cupcake.

Step 7: To make the gravestone look a little more realistic, use some green icing pens to create some grass around the base.

Step 8: If you have some green sprinkles or some bats or ghosts add these around the graveyard too. This adds some texture to the cake as well as some spooky atmosphere (I got mine from Lidl) & there you have it, a spooky graveyard cupcake. I think it works well as it has received good feedback from the people eating them.

Step 9: For some spooky extras you can crumble the Oreos to look like soil, add blood (red icing) to the tops of the gravestones or even make eyes, using some white buttons for the whites of the eyes.
This would make for a great centrepiece at a halloween party.

I hope you have enjoyed this simple and quick recipe for Halloween.
Do let me know if you have a go yourself or if you create your own recipes.

Happy Halloween!

OOTD | She's o lucky

28 October 2014
So the days are getting darker, colder and the leaves are starting to fall. This does not mean you have to cover up what yo' mumma gave you! Dressing in jewel tones is my favourite and this year you can get your hands on something in every shape and style.

We automatically go for cosy jumpers and knits but why not try and midi dress and boots? It gives you a chance to whip out some leg just before winter hits but if you don't feel comfortable in showing those pins, then you can wear some tights. I got this dress from Topshop and I love it. It fits in all the right places and skims the parts I want to shadow. The colour is gorgeous and its simple enough to dress up or down and the click of a hat....tah dah!

The Autumn days aren't always as pretty as you rememeber summer to be, but I can't beat relaxing on my roof terrace with the wind in my hair and the views for miles wide. Its a breathtaking experience and one I will never take for granted. Make the most of everything, clouds and all because your living and whats better than that?

I spent the weekend watching planes with my wonderful Grandad, which I got more into than I expected. It was wonderful to spend some quality time with him as well as get a little educated about what goes on in the sky. Just look at the kinds of photos you can get.

Dress & Boots: Topshop / Faux Fur: River Island / Hat: Spitalfields Market / Necklace: Select

I'll leave you with these photos of me having the time of your life and a question. Do you make the most of your life? Your family, friends, home or even your belongings? Look how lucky you are.... Love Khrissie x

Quick & Easy Halloween Snacks

27 October 2014
Happy pre-halloween everyone! Only a few days away and I was itching to get into the spirit and I love things like this. I normally bake and decorate with my sister but as we are miles apart I thought I would do it on my own and show you guys.

Seeing as there are not many days left until the day has graced us I thought I would create a couple of tasty snacks which are nice, easy and cheap for you all! To begin with I have some marshmallow pops for all of you. Its a super simple recipe and oh my! they are super tasty.

What you will need is: A pack of Marshmallows / A bar or two of white chocolate / Green & Red food colouring / Bamboo sticks or straws / Coloured tubes of icing / Hot chocolate sachets / White chocolate buttons / Popcorn / Eyeball sweets

Extras: Plastic cauldron / Spider / Table cloth

Step 1: Melt a bar of white chocolate in a bowl above a pan of boiling water

Step 2: Add in a drops of green food colouring into the melted chocolate until you have reached your desired colour

Step 3: To make eyeballs add a dot of the green chocolate on top of the marshmallow. Add on a white chocolate button then decorate with the icing pens, creating two circles to make the pupil. For the ghost all you need to do is add three dots of black to create a scared face.

Step 4: To make a Frankenstein pop you need to put the marshmallow on one of the sticks to make it easier to cover it with chocolate. Use a blunt knife and once covered in a even consistency of chocolate you smooth around the edges to help stop it dripping and to give the pop a neater edge. Repeat this step until all the marshmallows are covered and set them in a glass and pop it into the fridge for 10 minutes.

Step 5: Once the chocolate on the pops has set you can now decorate them how you like. Add to dots for eyes. A straight line or a zig zag for the mouth. Some lines for hair and some bolts on the side of the head, not forgetting the scar on the side of his head. Get your friends and family to join in too as it can be a lot of fun, and quite funny to see the finished results.

Step 6: You can either decorate the bottom of a jar with some Halloween sprinkles or you can make a 'Bloody Popcorn Cauldron' to go with it. To make this all you need to do is melt the other bar of white chocolate, add in some red food colouring to make it look like blood, then mix it into some salty popcorn to make it look all gross. I found some eyeball sweets which I used as hidden treats in the popcorn and worked really well. Then just add the mixture into the cauldron for the full effect and there you have a great it! A spooky centre piece for your table at Halloween! oooooooh!
Cauldron, Table cloth and Spider are from Poundland

If you are feeling a bit chilly on Halloween evening you can actually add the marshmallows into a hot chocolate for a quick tasty winter warmer. All the colours will mix and will add to the gruesome effect of old hallows eve!

I hope you liked some of my quick and easy ideas for some Halloween snacks. If you have any please let me know as I'd love to try them out. I have some cupcakes and biscuits coming later in the week so keep and eye out for some more creepy cooking tips coming your way....

Sleepy Sundays | Zoella Beauty

20 October 2014
Not long ago you would have seen Zoella launched her own beauty range. I knew it would be bath related as she is always talking about lush and other bath related products in her vlogs. I have followed Zoella since back in the day when I started my first blog (so embarrassing). I have followed her year on year, seeing her grow as a person and her confidence flourish! Its amazing to see where she has got to and I look forward to see where she goes from here.

Her audience is younger than I am but seeing as I'm the same age as Zoe and I love a good bath; now I have moved into my new apartment and it has the loveliest deep bath, I couldn't resist! I brought one of everything as I really wanted to give the whole 'Zoella' experience a go! The packaging is very Zoe as it reflects the style of her blog, which is very fitting to her audience. As a packaging designer I couldn't help swoon over the rose gold foil, as I just love a little bit of metallic on my packaging.
They are all £5 except the bag and mist which are £8 on Feel Unique, which is so affordable!
First up I lit the cute little candle. I love that its in a tin as it keeps it protected from the water splashes and bubbles while your in the bath. Upon sniff inspection I instantly approved of the woody, florals smells. The candle lit easily and didn't crackle as the wick was warming up.
Next up I added in two bath fizzers. I'm not going to lie I thought Zoe would have created a bath bomb but then you only get one use. You can get up to eight uses with these and each cube is carved with a letter Z and has a similar fragrance to the candle, so how can you resist? It does make me think of a dishwasher tablet a little bit but doesnt that mean your going to get a really good clean? I chucked these in an off they went, fizzing away like I was creating a champagne bath for myself. Delicious!

It was then time for me to fill my bath with lots of bubbles! I always add bubbles to my bath, I can't help it! I used to think it would not clean my hair properly but to be honest I think it helps. I've been used to using bubble bars for a while now, that going back to using a bottle of liquid bubble seemed strange to me. It bubbled up really quickly but I did have to use quite a bit to keep the bubbles going. After this fizzy bubble combo my bathroom smelt like a sweet shop, it was lovely! I then put on some Towie on my laptop which I rested on my sink (shh!) and had a lovely soak.

Once I finally got out of the bath, a good 40 minutes later and looking something like a prune I dazzled myself in some Blissful Mistful which I can honestly say smells amazing! She has a great sense of smell. I love the idea of being able to spray your body with a smell which isn't an expensive perfume and feel that little bit cleaner, I've been addicted ever since.

Lets not forget the adorable makeup/pencil case which comes in the collection too! I had to get the guinea pig on it, but which one is it? I can't quite figure it out? I loved the colour of this one and thought it matched the rest of the collection perfectly. Its also a really generous size and would be perfect to keep all your beauty bathroom essentials in as the outside is waterproof.

The last item in the collection is the 'Creamy Madly Dreamy' body lotion which I didn't actually use as I'm one of those terrible people who always forgets to moisturise after the bath or shower. I will get better, I promise.

Overall, I was pleasently surprised with the collection and can actually see me using these products for bath times to come. I've already used the candle and body mist again, which are my favourites! I think Zoe has done a brilliant job and has catered the smell of the products to the majority of our noses, as who doesn't love a good girlie/woody scent? I still want Zoe to bring out a set of miniature of 5 bath bombs with names all relating to disney films... I can see it now!

Have you tried any of these products from her range?

Fashion Favourite: Frassy

16 October 2014

I've been wanting to put together a monthly post of some of my favourite bloggers for a while now but for one reason or another I haven't had the chance to do it, but today is the day. My first fashion favourite and all time favourite blogger is a gorgeous girl who lives between Paris and Barcelona. Jealous right?..but she works super hard on her blog and if you just spend a few minutes flicking through her outfit posts and daily ramblings, which will probably turn into a few hours...no questions will be asked.

"Frassy is a personal style story- told by me, my spontaneous overflow of fashion, where I share my daily outfit choices, as well as insights into my life, the things I love, the places I go and the people, brands and projects that inspire me" - Audrey Leighton

I'm not sure how long I have been following Frassy, (otherwise known as Audrey Leighton) for now but it has been at least a few years.  It was love at first sight! Not only does she pull of everything she wears with such grace but she has fun with it too. Jumping around and flicking her hair is her favourite past time. It puts a smile on your face, brightens your day and makes you want to jump around in front of the eiffel tower with the gleaming sun shining down on you too. Also have you noticed how nice the photography is? It takes my breath away as they are so on point and with perfect locations to suit her outfits I couldnt want anymore. So inspirational...

I emailed Frassy and asked if she would mind me using her photos for this post. I didn't expect a reply with her busy lifestyle and brunches to eat but when I saw I had an email back I couldn't help but fan girl a little bit. Of course she said it was fine which was the best news I had all day. Here are a few of the wonderful looks she has pulled off to a T lately. Dont they just make you swoon?

She is one of those girls that finds those hidden gems in places like Primark and Boohoo, which is great but I can never find anything of the sort. I feel like she would be a great fashionable big sister who's wardrobe would always keep you ticking over..I wish! This is as close as I'm going to get to having a peak into her wardrobe but I'm more than happy with that.

Here is her blog BeFrassy! You must check it out and tell her I sent you. I'm sure your going to love her as much as I do. Frassy definitely needs more recognition for how amazing she is, so this is me giving back to what she has given me. You go girl! I hope you hit it big one day!
