8 November 2014

So there comes a point in a girls life when we need want more makeup. This is usually every month when I get my pay check. I went on my weekly visit to Superdrug & Boots to track down a few items that I wanted to try and came across all these beauties.
Sleek Precious Metals Highlighting Palette £9.99

I saw this highlighting palette grace the Blogosphere not so long ago and instantly added it to my wish list of things I wanted. The great thing with Sleek is that it is so affordable, you have no worries about breaking the bank with an instant purchase. What I love with this palette is the choice of colours you get with 3 velvet cream formulas and one powder to cater for all your highlighting needs.

Sleek i-Devine Vintage Romance

Another Sleek purchase I made while I was at the counter was this gorgeous i-Devine palette, which I have had my eye on for a while now. I just love the colours which I think are perfect for A/W as you could achieve so many looks with this whether you want more of a subtle or 'out there' look. Ah its just so pretty! Just looking at it, makes me happy.
Soap & Glory Brow Archery with Brush £8.00

One thing I fail at in life is eyebrows. I get them threaded and then leave it months before I give them some loving again, which just ruins the shape and yeah! not a good look. So I have brought this in the hope that it will make me be less eyebrow lazy...I'll get back to you on that one.

Next up are two mascaras I should have tried a long time ago! Bad blogger award..! It came to the time where I needed a new mascara as I tend to use one at a time so I dont forget how long I have been using it for as the thought of bacteria building up on the wands that I am going to put on my eye, kinda freak me out. Weird I know! So this time I thought if I brought two then I can flick between the both for different results, plus I thought I would give into the hype of Benefits They're Real after it being shoved in my face at every given moment at the checkouts. Let me know what you think of these?

Last up is a lipstick...like all beauty addicts we all love a good lipstick and can never have enough. I always buy the same shades just from different brands, which is alright but its not really pushing the boat out in terms of mixing up my look. Everyone has been rocking the dark purple and red lips at the moment, which I think looks so gorgeous that I wanted to jump on the bandwagon myself. I have gone for a lighter version than everyone is wearing just for the mean time to see how it suits me, so I can then go a bit darker when I'm feeling brave...

So that is all I have brought lately from the drugstore. I have already brought more but I dont currently have it as its being sent to me as we speak but I will update you on some more buys soon. What have you been buying lately? I would love to know...or if you have any recommendations then please leave a comment below.

Hope your having a wonderful weekend? I'm off to the cinema now to
watch Intersteller...I hope its as good as everyone says?

No7 Match Made in Heaven

3 October 2014
Hello lovlies!

Happy Friday! I'm so happy to be back blogging, it was horrible not being able to blog with moving out, staying at our friends and having everything packed in boxes. I had taken pictures of stuff in advance but with no internet and no time to sort out the pictures I couldn't see a way around it. Internet has been installed and I'm half moved in so all is right with the world.

So a little while ago No7 launched the Match Made Lipstick Service which is similar to their Match Made Foundation service but it for lipstick instead, which is great as choosing the right lipstick for your skin tone is something we can all struggle with. Ximena from Deseo Beauty kindly invited me and Jough from Jough Bloggs to try out the service on the launch date to see what we thought.

We managed to pop in on our lunch break and Ximena welcomed us with her lovely smile and she started to talk us through the different lipsticks that were available and how the process worked. First of all you get the Match Maker machine pressed onto a clean area of your skin on each side of your face so it can read the colour pigment of your skin colour.
This will tell you the colour match of your Foundation, Joughs was Calico which is the lightest of the shades, where I was Cool Vanilla which is one up from that. Ximena then asked us what kind of shade we wanted from a huge selection of deep red to coral. She worked this through the machine as it gives you more option on how to choose a colour this way. We also got given a card with all the shades on it from the Moisture Drench and Stay Perfect lines, which was handy to have so you can keep it in your bag with you so you can remember your perfect shade.

Ximena then picked out the shades for us to try on as we were unsure what we wanted. We both got carried away and ended up trying about 5 each as we were having so much fun trying on lipsticks and being girly! Saying this, there are 14 shades in the ranges that will suit your skin tone, so being a beauty addict you can understand that I wanted everything, right? Just look how pretty they all are..

Look how amazing Jough looks with that lip colour on! It looks gorgeous. It was nice to see how much of a buzz it was attracting with numerous girls coming over to the counter to find out about the hype. I can't think of anything better than playing with makeup with your girlfriends. Here is a snap of two beauty addicts I spotted trying on every colour in the range, they were just as happy as we were with the outcome.
I ended up settling for Soft Cherry. A lovely bright coral red which suits my skin tone perfectly. Its one of those everyday shades which adds that touch of glam when your in the office to give you a boost of moral when you need it most. I love it! and now I need more! The formulas of these lipsticks are amazing, so much so that Jough has been wearing hers nearly everyday since and even quoted that it was a the best lipstick she has ever worn *whispers* (better than MAC!)

So next time you pop into Boots...(hello weekend!) pop to the No7 counter and have a go! Its so much fun and it only takes 5 minutes to see what shade you are. No more worrying about skin tone colours and all that malarky, just go have some fun! Oh and if your near Bishopsgate pop into that one as thats where Ximena works and she was wonderful with us...thank you girl!

No7 Lipstick £9.95*

I'm back to blogging and it feels good!
Hope you've all been well?

KhrissieLoves...July Glossybox

2 August 2014

Happy August! So I got a July glossybox last month! Most of you would have heard about Glossybox, but its a beauty box which you sign up to, this particular one is £10 for a monthly plan. I was so happy to see it was American themed as Im always down with being patriotic to another country. Plus I was hoping I would get a few products which I find difficult to get hold of in the UK.

I love the design of the American style box and its one I'm definitely going to keep, or Nick is in this instance as he wants it on his desk at work as he loves all this America. I'm so nice!

Inside you get 5 products. 4 full size products and one miniature.

The first product is a Glossybox exclusive nail polish. Its been made in New York especially for Glossbox in the shade Glossy Seal. Its a yellow based blue toned colour which I love! I haven't got anything in my collection like it and I love how its an exclusive colour as it feels special. I can't wait to wear thing in the Autumn as thats when I love wearing dark shades.

I says its chip resistant but takes a little while to dry so I'm going to have to put this to the test to see whether its a big thumbs up or down. You can buy a very similar shade to this called 'Chelsea Girl' if your interested. I've added the link below for you.

One Size $8 for 15ml

Next up is Carmex lipbalm. This was the product I was most disappointed with as I've always used this product, especially in the winter when my lips need a little tlc. It is a good cult product as it conditions and protects your lips all year round but it's not something I want to pay for in a Glossybox. They added it as its a celebrity favourite, but which celebrities are they referring to I wonder?

One Size: £2.60

I then saw I got given a Bellapierre Cosmetics Ltd lipstick which I was really excited about as I always love trying to shades and formulas. This is actually a mineral lipstick which is great as its contains more natural ingredients than your average lipstick. It has vitamin E & C in it and is meant to protect your lips from the sun which is a bonus in my books. I haven't tried this brand before so I'm looking forward to giving it as go and seeing how long lasting it really is.

The shade is in 'Catwalk' which is a fun name. It s gorgeous nude pink shade, quite yellow based, so slightly moving into the mauve territory when in it stick, but once applied on my skin it has more coral tones to it, which is right up my street. Bellepierre lipstick also has that nice lipstick smell to it which I can only describe as a mix between play dough and a musky floral perfume. Its safe to say that so far I love it!

Packaging wise I find the plastic case quite cheap looking considering this is a £20 lipstick! If you think you can get a gorgeous YSL lipstick for £5 more than I'm not sure its worth it! I know that mineral makeup is more expensive but I think they should upgrade their packaging to give more of a luxury feel to it, which will really help to make the product shine.

One Size: £20

Next up is Dr. Bronners Magic Soap. I've never seen or heard of this brand before and I was a little baffled as to what it does when I first saw it. It says its an 18-in-1 product which sounds pretty promising, so I had a little google search as I was very curious about how magic this soap really was....

Ok..Lets just say on first impressions, I'm really impressed! It really does do 18 things. You can use it to wash your hair, body, face but also use it to wash your dishes or do the laundry and the list goes on. Now who doesn't want one product that can do everything for you? Its a miracle! I'm going to have to try these out all my self of course but with the product being organic and great for people with allergies or sensitive skin, its really does seem like a win win situation.

I'll link you to the website here (uk basedso you can look more into different fragrances and products by Dr.Bronner if your interested,as this is the super mild version which can even be used on babies! Here is also a cheat cheat about how many drops of the product you need to use in different situations as its a concentrated product, so you need to use it sparingly. A little goes a long way! I'm really happy with this product but I'm not too keen on the packaging as it has too many words when it should be concentrating on pulling out the best bits.

Sample size: £1.99
Full Size: £5.99

Last up is a Glossybox premiere product by the brand Absolute New York. This is an eyeshadow primer which is oil-free and meant to even out your skin tone. Its meant to prevent shadow from creasy and last all day. I love primers which you can wear alone to hide the veins in your eyes, so I'm looking forward to giving this a try.

This is an American brand so its not as easy to get hold of in the UK so hopefully I dont end up falling in love with it.

One Size: $4.99

So heres the roundup of my July Glossybox. I hope you liked reading about what I got. I think these boxes are always hit and miss but I dont think you can go too wrong when there is a themed version. Looking through what other people recived I wish I got the tarte mascara as I've always wanted to try that brand, but its just going to have be something I purchase myself.

You can sign up to Glossybox here

Have a lovely weekend everyone

OOTD: Floral Kimono

23 July 2014

Dress / H&M
Leggings / H&M
Shoes / Koi Coture (similar here)
Necklace / Primark

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I hope your having a lovely day whatever your doing. In the weekdays I work my full-time graphic design job which takes up a lot of hours in the day. I'm always thinking about blogging in the back of my mind though and so I'm going to try and post an 'Outfit of the day' whenever I can in the week. Its going to be a real representation of what I wear on a daily basis as I really want this blog to be true to me and not too try hard.

Today I just chucked on this dress and leggings as I was having one of those mornings and I wanted to be comfy. I then realised how boring it was and hey presto the beloved kimono came out. Then I added the necklace and it still weren't enough. 'I was colour damn you!' and shining at me were these shoes. They are one hell of a statement but I love them and so did a few of my colleagues (with a few screwed up faces thrown in ha!)

On twitter/instagram I am going to post daily inspiration to try and help you guys out aswell. If its a tip I find or a quote I've thought of etc. We all need a little inspiration in our lives and so I thought this would be a good way to share the love. I'm going to use the hashtag #inspireyou so you can share inspiring thoughts etc too! My ideas book made me think of that :P....

p.s I can't seem to take this kimono off at the moment! I adore it and I can't believe I found it in select!
So if you see me in it a lot, I am washing it ha! but I'm just putting it straight back on, as you do..

Hello there you wonderful lot,

Here I have put together a Festival Kit for you based on products at the drugstore. If your a beauty lover and make up enthusiast I know you wouldn't go a day with at least a lashing of mascara.

When your at a festival you never want to take your best things and somehow they always get lost!...Hello Nokia 3310! So I thought why not show you how you can pack your own little make up bag away for the weekend with products that you don't have to worry about and give you so many different looks in one, just by having the right palette with you.

My favourite stand out item has to be the 'Sleek i-devine Eyeshadow Palette in Rio Rio'. It's limited edition for the summer and its perfect. I mean..just look at those colours! Festivals are the time to experiment with shadows and put away your neutrals that we are oh so attached to! This palette is a perfect transition from that and they are mineral based so they feel so soft and they blend really well, so get experimenting people!

I've got a second post coming up with 2 looks using all these products, I had great fun with them and I'm looking out to trying more. I hope this was helpful to you and gives you some inspiration on what to take if your heading to a festival soon.

What festivals are you going to this year?
If you try out any looks based on the 'Rio Rio' palette please tweet me so I can see
all your wonderful creations / @khrissieloves

See yo' later!

Company Blogger Awards Outfit Pt.1

22 June 2014

Outfit / New Look
Floral Skort Playsuit / £24.99
Lipstick / Revlon Lacquer Balm in Vivacious

I was really pleased when I saw a tweet that Company were selling tickets to the Company Style Blogger Awards as I had seen photos last year and it looked like a lot of fun, plus its a great networking event where you can meet lots of people with the same interest as you. Me and my friend Jough (who is starting her own blog too: musium) have just started our blogs and even though they are at very early stages, it was nice to start meeting people from the blogging community and build up contacts.

I knew I needed an outfit for the event and I didn't have anything I thought was right so I went shopping with my best friend and found all of this is New Look, pretty much straight away. I love it! It's so comfy and there's other occasions I need an outfit for and this would be perfect for those too, so I know I'm going to get good wear out of it.

I really did have the best time at the Style Awards and I got to meet lots of new people, and people I have been fan girling over for a while. (FunForLouis, Leanne Lim Walker, What Olivia Did, Wish Wish Wish) I never expected to be so nervous to meet them but I was so happy I got the courage. I suffer with social anxiety and I know its something I really need to get over but this really helped me realise my fears are all in my head. (I will create a Pt.2 version with some pictures from the night)

I enjoyed the sponsored companies that were at the event like Sun Seekers who are a new company that make silver and gold temporary tattoos, which are amazing! Colour Riot Nails who were giving us all the perfect manicures and specialise in nail art, I couldn't have been happier and Lee Stafford which were giving us girls festival inspired hair which I loved! She used this funny shaped wand on my hair and  I loved the effect. Its now my mission to try and find out what it is.

Good Job Company Magazine for putting on a wonderful night and Congratulations to all the bloggers who were nominated, shortlisted, highly commended and who won! I've realised its so much hard work to keep a blog going, especially when you have other things going on so well done to each and everyone of you who are making it in the world!

See ya!
