8 November 2014

So there comes a point in a girls life when we need want more makeup. This is usually every month when I get my pay check. I went on my weekly visit to Superdrug & Boots to track down a few items that I wanted to try and came across all these beauties.
Sleek Precious Metals Highlighting Palette £9.99

I saw this highlighting palette grace the Blogosphere not so long ago and instantly added it to my wish list of things I wanted. The great thing with Sleek is that it is so affordable, you have no worries about breaking the bank with an instant purchase. What I love with this palette is the choice of colours you get with 3 velvet cream formulas and one powder to cater for all your highlighting needs.

Sleek i-Devine Vintage Romance

Another Sleek purchase I made while I was at the counter was this gorgeous i-Devine palette, which I have had my eye on for a while now. I just love the colours which I think are perfect for A/W as you could achieve so many looks with this whether you want more of a subtle or 'out there' look. Ah its just so pretty! Just looking at it, makes me happy.
Soap & Glory Brow Archery with Brush £8.00

One thing I fail at in life is eyebrows. I get them threaded and then leave it months before I give them some loving again, which just ruins the shape and yeah! not a good look. So I have brought this in the hope that it will make me be less eyebrow lazy...I'll get back to you on that one.

Next up are two mascaras I should have tried a long time ago! Bad blogger award..! It came to the time where I needed a new mascara as I tend to use one at a time so I dont forget how long I have been using it for as the thought of bacteria building up on the wands that I am going to put on my eye, kinda freak me out. Weird I know! So this time I thought if I brought two then I can flick between the both for different results, plus I thought I would give into the hype of Benefits They're Real after it being shoved in my face at every given moment at the checkouts. Let me know what you think of these?

Last up is a lipstick...like all beauty addicts we all love a good lipstick and can never have enough. I always buy the same shades just from different brands, which is alright but its not really pushing the boat out in terms of mixing up my look. Everyone has been rocking the dark purple and red lips at the moment, which I think looks so gorgeous that I wanted to jump on the bandwagon myself. I have gone for a lighter version than everyone is wearing just for the mean time to see how it suits me, so I can then go a bit darker when I'm feeling brave...

So that is all I have brought lately from the drugstore. I have already brought more but I dont currently have it as its being sent to me as we speak but I will update you on some more buys soon. What have you been buying lately? I would love to know...or if you have any recommendations then please leave a comment below.

Hope your having a wonderful weekend? I'm off to the cinema now to
watch Intersteller...I hope its as good as everyone says?

Daily Makeup Favourites

24 August 2014

Happy Bank Holiday weekend everyone!

Today I thought I would show you my current daily make up. It doesn't really change too much over time as I use my favourite products and then repurchase them so I tend to get stuck in a rut. I'm now trying to switch it up to make my routine more exciting, although it never feels like a chore. I am feeling more inspired to create different looks and I'm getting more excited about make up again so lets see what this looks like in a few months time.

Base: This is currently my favourite combo for my base. I haven't been using a primer as I don't like the feeling of most of them as I find they are quite heavy on my skin.

For my foundation I have been using MaXfactor all day flawless, which is a 3 in 1 product that primes and conceals as well as having an SPF 20. I got the shade Warm Almond as I found the lighter shade too light for me which I found surprising. I have oily combination skin and lately it's got worse so I knew I needed more of a mattifying foundation. I've found this has really worked for me as although I still need to powder it has lasted me a lot longer than other drugstore products. (I'll review it soon)

For concealer I've been using NARS creamy concealer in Vanilla. As a lot of people know, its an amazing product. Far better than any other concealer I've tried and even though its on the more expensive side I would still repurchase this over collections lasting perfection as I found that creased on me big time. Its so smooth on my skin and covers flaws like a dream.

Bronzer/Contour: I've been using Bodyshop Honey Bronzer. I love this bronzer a lot! It never goes too orange on my skin and gives me the perfect amount of colour without it looking unnatural. I don't really need to contour as I have big cheekbones which I personally hate as it gives me a wide face but without them I would probably complain.

Blush: I got this blush free with another NARS purchase when I was at a launch earlier this year. Its a mini version of the Deep Throat blush which I was actually going to buy not long before. I really wish they sold more of these minis as its a great way to try out a product without paying the full price. Its great on my skin tone and its cute enough for my handbag! The brush I've been using it is also a firm favourite in my makeup bag. Its from the EcoTool travel kit, which all of you must try btw as they are so super soft!

Finally for eyes and brows I have been using this combination. This is the MUA eyeshadow palette in Undressed, which you can pick up from Superdrug for a really affordable price. They are smooth and creamy and blend really well, you could say they are a dupe for the naked palettes. I've been using the two pink shades on the top left the most but I have a go at most of them during the week, depending on how I feel when I wake up in the morning.

I mix up my mascaras all the time as I love trying new ones out. I was using the Kate Moss mascara but I found it crumbled a lot so I've left that one lonely in my makeup bag for now. This is another new launch by Rimmel. I found I was attracted to this as it has Argan Oil in it which helps to nourish your eye lashes to help them grow. Now I don't have much of a problem with the length but I do find my lashes fall out quite a bit so I need something which will help out the new lashes that poke through grow quicker so I don't look bald in my eye department. I'm yet to see if it makes any difference but I will report back when I do.

For my brows I have been using another launch by Rimmel called Brow this way. This looks like a mascara but it coats your brows instead. Its a different way of defining your brows but I love it! I find its so easy to apply and it shapes and sets your brows like nobodies business.

So this is what I wear on my face at the moment. I usually don't make too much fuss on a week day as I don't have too long to get ready in the morning for work, mainly because I have a good relationship with the snooze button but I've now got into the routines of using these products so I can get my face on pretty quickly when I need to.

Whats your current makeup favourites at the moment?

May Glossybox 50th Edition (First ever Beauty Box!)

3 June 2014

Glossybox 50th Drugstore Edition:

This was my first Glossybox purchase as I was interested as it was totally Drugstore related and I wanted to see what I would get that I might not have seen before. Lots of you who are familiar with
this beauty box know that it is packaged beautifully, which is a lovely bonus when you receive it thorough the post, they are good for storing nail bit and pieces in.

So I recieved my box and I was impressed straight away....

The first thing I saw was the Superdrug / Large Doughnut Ring / Full size £3.99.  I was so happy to see this is the box as I've been meaning to get one for a while as I want to try some different updo
styles and I keep forgetting when I go into the drugstore and there is was. Perfect!

Next was the B. / Quick one coat nail polish in 189 Persica / Full size £4.99. On first impression
I werent too impressed, but one coat on the nail to test it and I was in love! Its absolutely perfect for summer as it one of those peachy/coral shaes which makes your hands look more tanned than they are.
(Look out for an instagram manicure soon! @khrissieloves)

This Blowpro / Volumizing conditioner / Full Size £9.99 is what I got pretty excited about as I've been trying to get volume in my hair for ages. I have thick but fine hair so it difficult to style. What I love about this is that its volumizing conditioner which I have seen much of before. Watch this space for killer volumising madness!

Rimmel London / Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara / One Size £6.99 is something I was kind of familiar with, although I haven't tried it as I love my maybelline falsies. I need a new mascara soon so Ive been trying this out and I'm quite impressed. The wand is shaped differently so I need to get used to application but it lengthens and separates your lashes quite nicely.

I love... cosmetics / Strawberries & Milkshake Lipglos / Full Size £1.29 was the only product I werent too impressed with. I was expecting a lot on the sniff factor but there was nothing there. The application can be quite messy as it quite liquid compared to other thick glosses but it does mean that its not sticky and can feel quite hydrating on the lips, but I felt it was more greasy that anything.

I was x so happy with this Ghost Fragrances / Eclipse / Sample as I am a massive fan of Ghost fragrances and I have a massive thing with the moon at the moment and the fact that the full bottle is shaped like a moon, I'm just all over it! It kind of makes me a little excited inside. The fragrance is fruity floral but an amber base which makes it quite a grown up scent without it been granny like.

(also included was a Garnier Beauty Oil sample)

Cost: £13 inc p&p / RRP Price £27.25

Overall I am really impressed, I would like to see if a standard box compares to this as I would be more than happy to subscribe to the beauty box but I will just have to wait for the next one to arrive. For the price I think you get a pretty good deal, assuming you are happy with the products. If you are a newbie like me then definitely by a one off box if you can and give it a go! Good Job Glossybox!

See ya!
