Mums on the Go Afternoon Tea

5 March 2016
Its that time of year where we all tell our mums how much we love them and how they are the best mums in the world. No, literally mine is the best! I think this is a wonderful day of the year as many of us cannot survive without our mums, and I am definitely one of them. I ring her on a daily basis and shes always there for chats and giggles whenever I need her but I hardly get to see her in person.

Shes in Essex and I'm in London and although its not forever away, it does make it difficult to make the time to see each other to spend some quality time, making happy memories. Mothers Day is the one day I always make sure I am there for her wherever I am and its always a reminder that I should make more of these days throughout the year as you really need to make the most of the time you have.

There are lots of people in my life without their mums or nans this year and it makes me terribly sad. I cant imagine a day where you want nothing more than to see your mum and you cant. So let that be a reminder that time really is precious!

To mark the occasion I took my mum to The Orangery the Kensington Palace for afternoon tea* as part of the 'Mums on the go' campaign with WatchShop, so we could relax and have a good catch up over delicious food. The staff there were fabulous and attentive with perfectly bright smiles and huge charisma. The tea comes to you quickly, served on beautifully decorated bone china plates with assortments of sandwiches, scones and delightful sweet treats. The scones were to die for and I had a particular love for the perfectly portioned lemon eclair. yum! If only there was more of those.

The food was quickly scoffed but we managed to savour one for my sister to try as she was joining us later on. I would highly recommend The Orangery to anyone who loves afternoon tea. The views are stunning from the windows too so its a great place to sit if you want to escape the bustle of the city.

This was my mums first experience at an afternoon tea and she loved it. I definitely want to make more time do try new things with her this year. Id love to take her out of her comfort zone and try and skydive and also go to comedy nights, have a nice meal in a tall building and even take her to a silent disco and she does love to dance.

Mum, your the best and I will always try and make time for you, no matter how busy we get.
What are some things you would love to do with your mum if you had more time together?

Happy mothers day to everyone, my thoughts are with all of you!
Love Khrissie x

*some of the costs were covered by the Moms on the go campaign by Watchshop to help give some recognition to all that mums go and with not much time to do it. This was about spending quality time with your mum with the minutes you do have, as every second counts with your loved ones

MWNails Experience

28 June 2014

For my birthday in April my bestie Ellie, got me a voucher for this nail bar in Shoreditch, London called MWNails. The voucher was like an airport ticket and once I had a gander online I saw that it was themed around an airport/holiday destination and the inside was decorated out as an aeroplane. How cool! I knew I was going to book a holiday around June time and the voucher ran out in July so I thought, 'why not save it so I can have holiday nails' ...perfect!

So I booked a holiday to Tenerife! I'm on it now if your reading this and I started prepping what I was going to wear etc. (if you check back on my old posts you will see a haul of some of the clothes I brought) and I had quite a lot of blue and pink running throughout so I knew I wanted to include these colour in my mani somewhere.

So time just flew by and it was June before I knew it! Ellies birthday was coming up and so I thought why not get them dont together for the holiday and it can be my present to her. The plan was made and we just needed to decide what to have done. (As they do nail art at this bar which I was really excited about.)

The day came and we had printed off some pictures and we both ended up going with the same thing ha! We always have the same taste in stuff. We went to the bar, got seated and picked our colours for the mani to begin. We got seated really quickly, the seats were comfy and I really liked the relaxed vibe of the place. We got the 'Perfect Panama' mani which included a nail shape and prep, then we got the most relaxing hand massage and hot towel press. It was heaven!

She told me how she was going to do the mani and checked with me that if I was happy along the way. Nothing seemed too much trouble while we were there which was nice as some places can make you feel quite rushed. They used a technique where they added the polish to a sponge and dabbed it on to get the ombre effect, this was repeated a few times to get the desired opacity.

Once dry I asked for a feather to be added to each ring finger to just make it a bit more special and I was really happy with how that came out. Ellie had some palm tree silhouettes added to go with our holiday theme. I liked how they wouldn't say no to something they hadn't done before, they would find a way around doing the design you want, which is satisfying for future reference.

All in all I was really pleased with my experience and I definitely would go there again if I was getting my nails done for an occasion or if I got another voucher. Its nice to have someone pamper your hands and nails for you and with a result your happy with. This is definitely a good experience for a fun girly pamper day, you just need a little retail therapy and a chick flick to complete your day.

Last of all, because it was Ellie's birthday I wanted to make her some 'Monster Cookies' which have become very popular where I work. Thank you Vivianna Does Make Up for the recipe! I used an old Glossybox, wrapped the top in some paper I got from next and placed the cookies inside. It made a lovely gift, which I will do for future friends and family.

I'm off to finish my holiday prep now so I'll see you when I get back
(I'm already on holiday, laying by the pool with a cocktail in hand :P)

See ya!

May Glossybox 50th Edition (First ever Beauty Box!)

3 June 2014

Glossybox 50th Drugstore Edition:

This was my first Glossybox purchase as I was interested as it was totally Drugstore related and I wanted to see what I would get that I might not have seen before. Lots of you who are familiar with
this beauty box know that it is packaged beautifully, which is a lovely bonus when you receive it thorough the post, they are good for storing nail bit and pieces in.

So I recieved my box and I was impressed straight away....

The first thing I saw was the Superdrug / Large Doughnut Ring / Full size £3.99.  I was so happy to see this is the box as I've been meaning to get one for a while as I want to try some different updo
styles and I keep forgetting when I go into the drugstore and there is was. Perfect!

Next was the B. / Quick one coat nail polish in 189 Persica / Full size £4.99. On first impression
I werent too impressed, but one coat on the nail to test it and I was in love! Its absolutely perfect for summer as it one of those peachy/coral shaes which makes your hands look more tanned than they are.
(Look out for an instagram manicure soon! @khrissieloves)

This Blowpro / Volumizing conditioner / Full Size £9.99 is what I got pretty excited about as I've been trying to get volume in my hair for ages. I have thick but fine hair so it difficult to style. What I love about this is that its volumizing conditioner which I have seen much of before. Watch this space for killer volumising madness!

Rimmel London / Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara / One Size £6.99 is something I was kind of familiar with, although I haven't tried it as I love my maybelline falsies. I need a new mascara soon so Ive been trying this out and I'm quite impressed. The wand is shaped differently so I need to get used to application but it lengthens and separates your lashes quite nicely.

I love... cosmetics / Strawberries & Milkshake Lipglos / Full Size £1.29 was the only product I werent too impressed with. I was expecting a lot on the sniff factor but there was nothing there. The application can be quite messy as it quite liquid compared to other thick glosses but it does mean that its not sticky and can feel quite hydrating on the lips, but I felt it was more greasy that anything.

I was x so happy with this Ghost Fragrances / Eclipse / Sample as I am a massive fan of Ghost fragrances and I have a massive thing with the moon at the moment and the fact that the full bottle is shaped like a moon, I'm just all over it! It kind of makes me a little excited inside. The fragrance is fruity floral but an amber base which makes it quite a grown up scent without it been granny like.

(also included was a Garnier Beauty Oil sample)

Cost: £13 inc p&p / RRP Price £27.25

Overall I am really impressed, I would like to see if a standard box compares to this as I would be more than happy to subscribe to the beauty box but I will just have to wait for the next one to arrive. For the price I think you get a pretty good deal, assuming you are happy with the products. If you are a newbie like me then definitely by a one off box if you can and give it a go! Good Job Glossybox!

See ya!
