OOTD | Checked Out

15 October 2014

Hello there lovelies! Today I have an outfit for you that I just love! All these items I keep grabbing on a daily basis are relatively new (Sorry wardrobe for neglecting you) which has made me realise I'm really starting to understand my own style. Lately I have been all about comfort but I still want to look cute so wearing a simple outfit like this ticks all those boxes.
ASOS Fashion Union Jacket - £45

I got this jacket when I was having a quick browse through ASOS (as you do) and I fell in love with it straight away. I love the boyfriend style of jacket anyway as I find they sit well over anything and are a classic shape which will always stay on trend. The fact that this had a checkered pattern on it and it was in a monochrome print, I knew I had to have it.

Topshop Brit Lace up Boots - £42
One of my newest purchases are these boots! My favourite ones broke while I was in Paris and while I wait to get them fixed I had to get some more as I can't bare getting wet feet in the UK rain. I've always had a love for the Vagabond Diion boots but for £90 a pop I was unsure, seeing as my last ones were at this price and they broke on me. I was having a little browse in Topshop and saw these hanging there, I ran towards them to see they were only £42 compared to the £90 I was considering to pay! They are so similar and oh so comfy that I could not resist.
Topshop Jamie Jeans £42
At the same time as finding the boots, I also saw these Topshop Jamie jeans. I loved how they were an off black with a hint of blue in them and having a ripped knee just hit the nail on the head. I didnt even bother trying them on as I know how well Jamie Jeans fit. They felt like butter on my skin so I knew I wouldnt be able to put them down anyway.

To top off the outfit I added a simple grey tank and an old tartan scarf of mine just to add some colour to my dark outfit. I think the whole outfit really works and it great for day to day duties or a day at the office.

By the way...Welcome to my roof terrace! You'll be seeing a lot more of this over the next year. I cant get enough of it, especially when it decides to stop raining!

What are your favourite A/W pieces?

Curl it! Baby!

7 September 2014
Oh Hello there! I hope you've all had a great week and your enjoying your weekend?
This is my first week of scheduled posts, where I'm trying to post 3 days a week because I want my blog to become something better than what it is and the only way to do that is by improving it!

So the first thing is to upload more time a week with each post being scheduled to a particular niche, so you guys know what your getting when I upload. I said initially that my beauty posts were going to be on Saturdays but this week has been one of the busiest and I feel like my head is going to explode with do to lists so I decided I would write it up now as I have a bit of time before I need to get packing boxes. I am moving house at the end of the month and there is so much to sort out I don't even want to think about it as I might just be sick ha! oh the worries of being a proper adult!

Today I thought I would tell you about my new hair curler as I have had a few people ask about my hair and what I use (even random girls while I've been shopping) and so I thought I would share my new purchase with you incase you wanted one yourself. I've been craving a new hair curler for the longest time but I never got around to buying one until I went to a wedding not so long ago and saw my friend with the prettiest hair! I asked my friend what she uses on her hair and she told me it was this Babyliss 2285CU curling wand. I was surprised to see it was Babyliss as a few hair styling products I've tried before haven't been up to scratch but off to Amazon I went and brought the wand for £24.99.

It didn't take long before I whipped this bad boy out to give it a whirl as it got delivered super quickly! This is a conical styling wand which gives the effect of free-flowing curls, a glove is provided in the box but I've already lost this..opps! The wand has a few heat settings to choose from depending on the curl you want but I would recommend 195 setting and let your hair drop a little as it makes the process a lot quicker. It actually goes up to 210 but I find that too hot. So you just grab inch sections of hair, wrap it around the wand and hey presto! You've got yourself a lovely head of free-flowing curled hair.

They look like ringlets when you first curl your hair but once it has dropped a little and you've smoothed them out, the results are lovely. The barrel length is actually a really good size on this, especially if you have long hair like me. (I have enough room to wrap all my hair around it). This honestly didn't take me very long to achieve the look I wanted and so to get away from my naturally dead straight hair I've been using this a lot and I'm really enjoying the results it gives me.

The main thing about this wand, which is a massive plus is that even though the curls drop, its still curled and not a huge mess at the end of the which I have never achieved before. This is now my new best friend and we will be seen together a lot in the next few months.

Here's the finished look! I couldn't help taking some l'oreal inspired hair photos for you guys as I just love the way it moves and to be honest I really did feel like beyonce in some of these! So sassy!

I hope you enjoyed todays post! I definitely enjoyed taking the photos if you can't tell.
You can buy the Babyliss wand here and I'm so jel as you can now get it for £19.99!!

Let me know if you buy it and what looks you achieve with it as I'd love to see!
Catch you tomorrow

MWNails Experience

28 June 2014

Images on right: Source Top Right / Bottom Right

For my birthday in April my bestie Ellie, got me a voucher for this nail bar in Shoreditch, London called MWNails. The voucher was like an airport ticket and once I had a gander online I saw that it was themed around an airport/holiday destination and the inside was decorated out as an aeroplane. How cool! I knew I was going to book a holiday around June time and the voucher ran out in July so I thought, 'why not save it so I can have holiday nails' ...perfect!

So I booked a holiday to Tenerife! I'm on it now if your reading this and I started prepping what I was going to wear etc. (if you check back on my old posts you will see a haul of some of the clothes I brought) and I had quite a lot of blue and pink running throughout so I knew I wanted to include these colour in my mani somewhere.

So time just flew by and it was June before I knew it! Ellies birthday was coming up and so I thought why not get them dont together for the holiday and it can be my present to her. The plan was made and we just needed to decide what to have done. (As they do nail art at this bar which I was really excited about.)

The day came and we had printed off some pictures and we both ended up going with the same thing ha! We always have the same taste in stuff. We went to the bar, got seated and picked our colours for the mani to begin. We got seated really quickly, the seats were comfy and I really liked the relaxed vibe of the place. We got the 'Perfect Panama' mani which included a nail shape and prep, then we got the most relaxing hand massage and hot towel press. It was heaven!

She told me how she was going to do the mani and checked with me that if I was happy along the way. Nothing seemed too much trouble while we were there which was nice as some places can make you feel quite rushed. They used a technique where they added the polish to a sponge and dabbed it on to get the ombre effect, this was repeated a few times to get the desired opacity.

Once dry I asked for a feather to be added to each ring finger to just make it a bit more special and I was really happy with how that came out. Ellie had some palm tree silhouettes added to go with our holiday theme. I liked how they wouldn't say no to something they hadn't done before, they would find a way around doing the design you want, which is satisfying for future reference.

All in all I was really pleased with my experience and I definitely would go there again if I was getting my nails done for an occasion or if I got another voucher. Its nice to have someone pamper your hands and nails for you and with a result your happy with. This is definitely a good experience for a fun girly pamper day, you just need a little retail therapy and a chick flick to complete your day.

Last of all, because it was Ellie's birthday I wanted to make her some 'Monster Cookies' which have become very popular where I work. Thank you Vivianna Does Make Up for the recipe! I used an old Glossybox, wrapped the top in some paper I got from next and placed the cookies inside. It made a lovely gift, which I will do for future friends and family.

I'm off to finish my holiday prep now so I'll see you when I get back
(I'm already on holiday, laying by the pool with a cocktail in hand :P)

See ya!

Company Blogger Awards Outfit Pt.1

22 June 2014

Outfit / New Look
Floral Skort Playsuit / £24.99
Lipstick / Revlon Lacquer Balm in Vivacious

I was really pleased when I saw a tweet that Company were selling tickets to the Company Style Blogger Awards as I had seen photos last year and it looked like a lot of fun, plus its a great networking event where you can meet lots of people with the same interest as you. Me and my friend Jough (who is starting her own blog too: musium) have just started our blogs and even though they are at very early stages, it was nice to start meeting people from the blogging community and build up contacts.

I knew I needed an outfit for the event and I didn't have anything I thought was right so I went shopping with my best friend and found all of this is New Look, pretty much straight away. I love it! It's so comfy and there's other occasions I need an outfit for and this would be perfect for those too, so I know I'm going to get good wear out of it.

I really did have the best time at the Style Awards and I got to meet lots of new people, and people I have been fan girling over for a while. (FunForLouis, Leanne Lim Walker, What Olivia Did, Wish Wish Wish) I never expected to be so nervous to meet them but I was so happy I got the courage. I suffer with social anxiety and I know its something I really need to get over but this really helped me realise my fears are all in my head. (I will create a Pt.2 version with some pictures from the night)

I enjoyed the sponsored companies that were at the event like Sun Seekers who are a new company that make silver and gold temporary tattoos, which are amazing! Colour Riot Nails who were giving us all the perfect manicures and specialise in nail art, I couldn't have been happier and Lee Stafford which were giving us girls festival inspired hair which I loved! She used this funny shaped wand on my hair and  I loved the effect. Its now my mission to try and find out what it is.

Good Job Company Magazine for putting on a wonderful night and Congratulations to all the bloggers who were nominated, shortlisted, highly commended and who won! I've realised its so much hard work to keep a blog going, especially when you have other things going on so well done to each and everyone of you who are making it in the world!

See ya!
